leverage and positioning

The following words of the Greek mathematician/inventor Archimedes:

“Give me a place to stand and with a lever I will move the whole world.”

makes me thing think of jiu-jitsu and business.  Where you stand is important in business and as much as it is always best to continuously check your circles of people around you.  One meeting you can be in the best position and in the next you can be losing it fast.  Were you prepared as much as you could be for the second meeting or did you not use any levers to over come the intellectual challenges?

The good news is something you have time to reposition yourself.  The bad news is sometimes you learn from the first meeting where you went wrong and do not let this develop into a pattern.  I can make a parallel to the street fighter vs the Martial Artist.  The street fighter has no training and often does the same attack pattern because it has worked in the past or it is the emotional action: Punch, Kick, or Grab left hand.

Where as the martial artist is an artist and learns to create new attacks as the fight develops.  Thus, if you don’t know how to fight, you will repeat your actions.  If you do know how to fight, you can create better actions to challenges that come in different aspects of learning (Life).

Put yourself in the a right position and move your challenges.  When you feel your out numbered, you should have known that was the chance you took from the beginning.  I hope you get a second change to overcome with the right people, ideas and levers.
