Will this year be different?

Will this year be different

Well, it’s that time again. Most likely some of you are deeply entrenched into your New Year‘s resolutions and a majority of you are still “starting Monday.” Like most Resolutionists the idea of starting the New Year off has to do with undertaking too much too soon.  Consider your progress when it comes to learning martial arts as a blue print to help get you into a realistic routine.

Elite Training Center‘s martial arts programs are structured. From the Krav Maga to the Muay Thai kickboxing, both youth and adult programs; our systems are followed via a rotating curriculum. Elite’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, MMA and Kali systems do the same. Not one lesson covers “too much.”

Every year most Resolutionists fail before they begin. It has to do with the approach. I personally want to start the year off with no sugar, eating cleanly, exercising as hard as I did (could) 10 years ago and expect the same results.  I haven’t faired too well with this in the past. In fact, I often fall into the same category as most.

Will this year be different? Most likely not. I will set a few goals for the year though. I encourage everyone to set 2 goals this year rather than make a resolution. Find a positive person in your life who inspires you and ask them for help. You can’t get what you don’t ask for or go after.

If you have your mind set on doing something positive like exercise, then commit to your next level in Krav Maga, Muay Thai, BJJ, MMA or be more consistent with your Kali. Set a date when you want to get it.

As mentioned in previous blogs when you prioritize your health and fitness everything will improve. Your attitude will be more positive and you will fuel your body with better, cleaner foods to help you push through your workout.  You’ll be feeling great and have the realization that after all that hard work you need to replenish it with healthy fuel.

Be realistic and consistent. 2 to 3 times per week to start out is what we recommend at Elite Training Center. Do your training with a partner or find someone who will help you by holding you accountable. But most important, have fun!
