Setting realistic fitness goals

Everyone is always talking about how they want a six pack or a better butt or better arms and then they go on some crazy diet.  However, it is really important to realize that fitness (and fitness goals) has to be balanced with the rest of your life.   You could absolutely have a six pack if you do the right things but you might have to sacrifice a lot in your life to get it.  On the other hand, you can live a very healthy lifestyle and make few sacrifices in your life but you’ll have to do it without a six pack.  The article linked below has a lot of really good information on what it can take to reach different fitness goals.  A lot of my friends that work in fitness recommended it and you should take a few minutes to review it.  It gives a lot of good information that can help you try to set some realistic goals for where you want to be in your life.
Also we say this when it comes to martial arts, but remember that you shouldn’t compare yourself to others when it comes to fitness.   First, everyone has different body types and their bodies respond differently to exercise, stress, food, and rest.  Second, the people we tend to compare ourselves to are people like models and star athletes.  Remember it is their job to look like that and they spend hours each day working on it.
Being healthy doesn’t have to mean having a six pack but you can get one if you really want it by doing the right things!
